The piece and its origins

The Amélie theme was published under the name “Comptine d’un autre été: L’après-midi”. It was originally composed by Yann Tiersen and can be found on the soundtrack of the film “The Magical World of Amélie” which was released in theaters in 2001. Translated, the title of the play means something like “Counting verses of another summer: the afternoon”. And it sounds similar. You can almost imagine a child playing Heaven and Hell on a summer afternoon in Montmartre, jumping up and down over the boxes with the numbers to the beat of the piece.

Amélie Tutorial or from the sheet music?

It is now one of the pieces that every piano student wants to learn as quickly as possible. However, it’s not actually a typical beginner’s piece. If you learn it strictly from the piano sheet music, it can quickly become too complex for you and you may give up prematurely. That’s why we’ve shown you here in an Amélie piano tutorial how to learn to play the piece holistically.
